Foo Fighters released the album of their dance side project Dee Gees on July 17, 2021.
As it is clear from the name of the project, the album «Hail Satin» (released exclusively only on vinyl on the Day of the Music Store) is dedicated to the famous band of the disco era Bee Gees. The A-side contains five covers: four Bee Gees songs and one solo piece by Barry Gibb (the last surviving member of the band), — and on the B-side there are five live versions of songs by the Foo Fighters themselves from their tenth studio album «Medicine at Midnight».
Only one cover single «You Should Be Dancing» was released in digital format, as well as in the form of a video.
— I’ve never, never sung like this in my life, but it was the easiest song I’ve ever sung in my entire life! — says Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. — I sang it, and it lasted about six minutes, and I was ready. I had to sing like this for the last 25 years!
— I was thrilled with the very idea that Foo Fighters would want to do this, — Barry Gibb wrote on social networks – I am very grateful to you guys, and I hope to meet you on stage.
On July 19, the album appeared digitally on streaming services.
