The Gorillaz band announced the reissue of their debut album «Gorillaz» for its 20th anniversary
The release will take place on December 10, 2021 on eight discs and vinyl records and will include, in addition to the original songs, B-sides (called «G-Sides»), demos, a dub and reggae remix album «Laika Come Home», which has never been released on vinyl before, and concert performances. The latter refers to the recording of their 2001 performance at the London Kentish Town Forum. The box set will also include a 27-page dossier on the band with «leaked documents, memos, faxes and some early drawings by Jamie Hewlett, allegedly lost in a fire.»
In December, the premiere of Gorillaz’s 2020 concert «Song Machine Live» will also take place, which was recorded at their London headquarters Kong Studios and includes guest performances by Peter Hook, Slaves, Robert Smith, Matt Berry, etc. The concert film will be shown in cinemas around the world for just one day on December 8. The show will include a live performance along with an exclusive behind-the-scenes short «Live From Kong» with interviews and commentary by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Tickets and cinema listings will be available on November 11.
In February 2022, Gorillaz fans will have another surprise: the musicians teamed up with the Superplastic vinyl toy brand, which created figures of the members of the virtual supergroup — 2D, Noodle, Murdoc and Russel — in colorful spacesuits (based on the clip «Strange Timez» from their last album). The set will cost $370 and is already available for pre-order.
